Whether you’re buying a diamond as a gift, to propose, or even buying a diamond to treat yourself, buying a diamond is no mindless task. With so many things to consider knowing what to look for is half the adventure. Luckily for you, we’ve created this step-by-step guide to choose the right diamond.

    1. Decide on a budget. Having even a ballpark estimate of what you’d like to spend will help you narrow down your decisions as you move through the coming steps.
    2. Decide what shape of diamond is desired. Diamonds can be cut into many shapes including round, cushion, heart, oval, etc. It’s helpful to know which shape, or at least what style you’re looking for. Need help deciding what shape is best? Find out what a diamond shape can say about your personality here!
    3. Educate yourself on the four C’s. We offer a complete guide in our Education Center. It’s important to understand what makes each diamond different.
    4. Compare, compare, compare! It’s important to understand what makes each diamond different. Just because two diamonds are graded the same, does not mean they will look the same.  Another thing to look for is a certified diamond from an independent  lab such as  GIA or EGL. This diamond will come with a complete grading report of your diamonds cut, clarity, color, and carat weight.
    5. If diamond selection does not fit within your determined budget, try a diamond with a smaller carat weight. It’s always better to have a quality diamond. Here at Tennies, we also offer a life trade-up program. This program gives you exactly what you paid for your center diamond in a trade with no minimums.

There you have it! 5 steps to help you buy the right diamond! Stop in and let the experts at Tennies show you our beautiful diamond collection.
